and the beat goes on…

Good, bad, indifferent, planned, un-planned, desired, bad timing, however it happened to you, you will never forget the day when you first became a parent. What young people don’t realize is that to us parents they never grow up. Let me qualify this by saying I am speaking for myself you might not feel the same. I used to wonder why my parents couldn’t just realize that I was an “adult” and let me just do things with out all the questions and concerns and warnings about being careful. A young person goes through everything as if they are in basic training and we at home cringe because we already know the path they will have to follow, we know it is not easy and yes we worry about their absolute safety, after all, we are responsible for their genetic make-up, their very flesh and blood life; the blood that flows in their veins comes from our own.

There are 1,511 references in the Bible to the word Father. God is our Heavenly Father. He created man from the dust of the earth. Imagine His pride when Adam took his first gulp of air and looked into his face, Abba Father. Imagine the heartbreak of this Great Father when His children hid from Him when He came for His evening walk with them in the Garden. He gave them a perfect place in which to live, they were perfectly formed, no sickness, no lack all they wanted and needed was right there in that lush and fragrant Garden of Eden. We give our children so much and sometimes they just don’t appreciate us, or what we do for them and we are upset, imagine how God feels every time He looks at the chaos on Planet Earth, His own creation! I like to imagine that the storms are born when he cries, the tornados when He raises His hand in utter disgust or disappointment, and waves it around.

My daughter now has two children of her own, and the beat goes on. She is still my baby and her babies feel like my own. The way I love them and care for them, He cares for me; I am still His little one, the lamb that He will pick up and place across His shoulders when I need correction. He will take care of everything that I freely place in His great hands and one day, take to live with Him in my heavenly home.

  1. And the beat goes on, the beat goes on
Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain
La de da de de, la de da de da…
