I think of myself as a diplomatic person, someone that tries to make peace where there is a storm, but for the past few weeks, dealing with these three people, it seems that while I am trying to calm the storm, the storm actually doesn’t want to be calmed. It’s like sending a weather balloon up into a hurricane, it wouldn’t calm anything down, it would just get blown to pieces. I found the perfect scripture to share with them and maybe you could use it also?
Ecclesiastes 7:21-22 Don’t eavesdrop on the conversation of others.
What if the gossip’s about you and you’d rather not hear it?
You’ve done that a few times, haven’t you—said things
behind someone’s back you wouldn’t say to his face?
Where three are in discord it’s terrible and causes much confusion, but if you are blessed enough to have two friends with whom you can agree then you have a powerful bond and there is another scripture, also out of Ecclesiastes that tells you why!
Ecclesiastes 4:12 By yourself you’re unprotected.
With a friend you can face the worst.
Can you round up a third?
A three-stranded rope isn’t easily snapped.
So the answer is this, if you’re dealing with troublesome, gossipy people who are causing confusion then read that first scripture out of the seventh chapter of Ecclesiastes to them, then look for two friends that are in agreement with you and you can pull a heavy load with that three-fold cord!
Sometimes there comes a time when all you can to is pray that the Holy Spirit will open their eyes to what they are doing and give them a spirit of conviction and repentance.
