He will Sustain me

So many times, especially in financially hard times we feel so alone it seems there is no one to help; everyone we know is in as deep as we are! But God is faithful and He never leaves us. Someone said recently that they couldn’t hear God’s voice and asked if they were they doing something wrong, my answer to them was no, you are not wrong; you just have to learn to be sensitive to His voice so that you can hear Him! What does that mean? Before you become a parent you can be in a crowd of people and hear a child say “Mama” or “Daddy” and you will never even notice, it probably didn’t even register to your senses that you heard it. But when you have a child of your own and hear a child’s voice call out, you immediately turn to see if it is YOUR child calling out for help. When you are young you can sleep through anything, thunder, barking dogs, but when you bring the baby home suddenly your ears become huge receivers to hear the slightest whimper, something you never noticed before you have become sensitive to the sound of a child.

The definition of ‘sustain’ is to maintain, nourish, provide food, bear, hold up, protect, support, and defend; to supply the means necessary for living. There have been times that I have thrown myself on His mercy and asked for help and it came immediately, then are the times I had to wait: Isaiah 41:30 But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as Eagles, They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.  Psalm 55:16 I call to God; GOD will help me. At dusk, dawn, and noon I sigh deep sighs—he hears, he rescues. My life is well and whole, secure in the middle of danger Even while thousands are lined up against me. This verse tells us that David prayed to God three times a day! How often do you go to God with your needs, or do you just expect Him to read your mind? If David had to pray that way and Daniel prayed that way what about you and me? Verse 22 of that same Psalm says “Pile your troubles on GOD’s shoulders— he’ll carry your load, he’ll help you out. He’ll never let good people topple into ruin.” Whatever your problem is, remember that you have His Word, His promise that He will sustain you, so take advice from the Psalmist.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

  1. I remind myself that He is my source. I feel like I have not managed my finances correctly when I run out before the end of the month or before the 3rd of the month when the SS check comes. I don’t often have to deal with that problem. I am blessed to say I have a little left each month. He always sustains me.
