In talking to my family about how to conduct themselves one day it just popped out: “Don’t let today be the yesterday you regret tomorrow” and I try to live that way.
Have I ever regretted some yesterdays?
Haven’t we all? But I try to not make a habit of it! One thing I do try to do is to empty myself on a daily basis of anything that is negative and cling to what has been good. Sometimes that is not the easiest thing to do, do you identify?
But how can God fill us up if we have not emptied ourselves? God doesn’t do leftovers. When He fed the Children of Israel in the desert for 40 years, He fed them on a daily basis. They had to have faith that next morning there would be a supply of food for them. If they collected more than they needed, it was greed and the excess would spoil.
When the Prophet told the lady to find “vessels not a few” in order to fill them with oil so that she could sell it to get out of debt to save her sons from becoming slaves, the oil poured forth from the original vessel until all the vessels she had borrowed were full, then it stopped, no excess to drip on the floor. So if you are too full of bitterness, ugliness, anger, pride, greed, even unreleased disappointment in others, or ourselves, there is no room for God’s blessings to be poured into us, and He will not see them poured out on the floor because there was no room for you to receive them!
God has chosen us and He can, and will help us…
Isaiah 41:10-13 ‘You’re my servant, serving on my side. I’ve picked you. I haven’t dropped you. ‘Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you. “Count on it: Everyone who had it in for you will end up out in the cold— real losers. Those who worked against you will end up empty-handed—nothing to show for their lives. When you go out looking for your old adversaries you won’t find them—Not a trace of your old enemies, not even a memory. That’s right. Because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, ‘Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you. “
With a promise like that from the Father, why not just accept it? If you believe anything else in the Word of God then why can’t you believe that you are a Kings Kid and know that as your Father, He is not going to let you down!
1 Corinthians 2:9 “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
I want to live today knowing that God has my future in His hands and today won’t be the yesterday I regret tomorrow!
For years it was hard to see myself as the King’s kid because I constantly viewed myself through my faults and failures. I had the head knowledge, but not the personal relationship knowledge. It took years for that relationship to mature.
