My family keeps Amazon and any other store that makes deliveries busy bringing everything from clothes to drums to our house. This causes an excess of boxes to be put out on my back deck. Thankfully no one can see it unless they climb the seventeen stairs up to my back door. Why am I telling you this? Because this is where my story starts…
There is a man who was recommended on an app I use, a Neighborhood thing where people share news and recommend people who do good work and complain about people who don’t and everything else from lost pets to the latest attack of the “litter bomber”. I called him and asked if he could come and remove some boxes. He came and efficiently and quietly did his job and then texted me to tell him what I owed him which I paid with another app (isn’t technology great?) Some time has gone by and I contacted him again this week and like before he was on time and wonderful. Another person that had done this job for me before had charged literally three times what this one man in a truck asked. I was surprised!
He came yesterday and believe me the boxes were piled higher than I stand, and don’t remind me that I am only 5’ tall, and when he texted me the price he asked for such a low price that again I was surprised. I had been in an attitude of prayer and listening to a great speaker expound the Word so I bowed my head and asked God to bless this man and started to put the amount in to pay him when the Spirit stopped me and told me how much more I should pay him, I obeyed the voice and did. Later when he texted me to thank me he said, “I gave you a price and you paid me more, why did you do that?” I was honest with him, I told him, “God told me to do it and I obeyed, just accept it as a blessing.” When he answered me after several minutes I collapsed into tears… His exact words were, “You paid me extra to compensate for the person that took advantage of me yesterday.”
When Jesus walked on this earth with His band of men, He did not have a grand church with an oak pulpit nor a tent complete with sawdust to cover the earth and fans from a funeral home, He just walked from place to place and ministered to those people who crossed His path or would call out “Rabbi, heal me!” There were times He spat on the earth and put the mud on someone’s eyes, or told them to pick up their bed and walk, He offered living water to a woman who no decent man would be seen talking with alone and protected another such woman who was caught in adultery by stooping and writing on the ground words that people have speculated about for centuries. Whatever He said must have been powerful because all of her accusers dropped their stones and walked away. The compassion/virtue flowed out of Him to the woman who crawled through the crowd and touched the hem of His garment and was healed! He asked those He healed to keep it a secret, not to say who had healed them, but they spread the word about Him and the miracles they had seen!
John 21:25 “And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.”
There are times when it isn’t as dramatic as someone at the point of death calling for you, maybe they need a loaf of bread, a tank of gas, or just a friend, a helping hand, someone to listen to them vent without judging them or saying anything except “I will pray.”
Acts 10:38 “And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.”
If you want to be like Jesus, face each day asking God to make “divine appointments” for you.
Psalms 37:23 “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”
If you ask God to make Divine Appointments for you, you will begin to notice that opportunities for helping people will be there and you will have to choose whether or how you “minister” to them. You never know when that someone you help will give their heart to God; it is so good to know you have helped.
I was so happy for that Divine Appointment and was very happy that I had obeyed what God had told me.
Ask God to make divine appointments for you today you may make the difference in someone’s life!
Thank you for these devotions, I look forward to them daily. Love you
