How do you plan to spend Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving Day is this coming Thursday, hard to believe isn’t it?

How do you most want your day to be spent? Some have to go to several houses before the day is over to keep relatives and in-laws happy, end up eating too much and more tired than thankful at the end of the day.

What do I want? My answer is this, as adventurous as I used to be, I find that now I enjoy a more peaceful, shoeless afternoon, not requiring anything from my family except to be at my house when it is convenient for them and just enjoy the day off. Sometimes the familiar is all we need. Both the peaceful and the adventurous have a place, but the more peace, inner peace, I get the less of other things I need, and that’s the truth.

We are so busy out looking for entertainment and something to do because we are…bored! We miss so much, like the bunnies that play in my yard, or the hawks that race around in my trees looking for food, the Rose of Sharon that bloom outside my windows, or the snoring of an old dog peacefully asleep as I type this!

With our spiritual self we cannot afford to get bored and start looking for something new, we could get into trouble. We need to stick with the Gospel found between the books of Genesis and the Revelation. Other people’s ideas are just that, ideas. I will listen to anything you have to say if you feel it is from God, but if it doesn’t line up with the Word, I don’t receive it into my spirit, and neither should you. People can come up with weird doctrines, and as I have said before, we don’t want to “drink the Kool-Aid” for anyone!

I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, that he was born of a virgin, Mary, by the Holy Spirit. I believe that he was crucified as an atonement for my sins, he died and rose again on the third day and that He went up into the clouds to be with the Father until His return “in like manner”! I know He answers prayer and that there is nothing that is impossible with Him! Now I am comfortable with that, it is the truth found within the confines of the Word!

The scripture came to my mind from Jeremiah 6:16-17 God’s Message yet again: “Go stand at the crossroads and look around. Ask for directions to the old road, The tried-and-true road. Then take it. Discover the right route for your souls. But they said, ‘Nothing doing. We aren’t going that way. ‘I even provided watchmen for them to warn them, to set off the alarm. But the people said, ‘It’s a false alarm. It doesn’t concern us.’

When you have your security alarm set at night, you can relax, knowing that if an intruder tries to come in, it will sound!

Now let’s get comfortable, kick off your shoes, settle down, get some comfort food and know that you are protected!

Psalm 91:11-12 Evil can’t get close to you; harm can’t get through the door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they’ll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling.
