My ancestors came to this country so that they could worship God the way they chose to worship Him, in spirit and in truth! They were being killed daily in old Armenia by Turkish soldiers because they wouldn’t deny Christ and take up Mohammed. They were among the first people to attend the Azusa Street Holy Spirit revival, they worshipped with song and dance and had the freedom to do it! My grandfather was so proud to be in America that he would for no apparent reason at all bow down and kiss the sacred ground of this country, which had brought freedom to him and his family. My grandmother learned “by heart” the entire constitution and when the Judge who questioned her when she applied for citizenship, only asked her three questions, it made her very angry that he made it too easy for someone to be a citizen of this great country! Are we still the country that they were so proud to become a part of? When I was in school we started each morning by quoting a scripture from the Bible and then standing and placing our hand over our heart and saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America! No one was ashamed to stand for the prayer at the beginning of a sports event, no was ashamed to say they believed in Jesus! What can we do to bring it back to its former glory? The bible says in 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, my God-defined people, respond by humbling themselves, praying, seeking my presence, and turning their backs on their wicked lives, I’ll be there ready for you: I’ll listen from heaven, forgive their sins, and restore their land to health. From now on I’m alert day and night to the prayers offered at this place. Let’s pray for the healing of our Nation, for our President to have wisdom, knowledge and understanding. If we don’t pray for our leadership to gain understanding, we could end up worshipping in basements by candlelight, you think that is impossible? So did my forefathers in Armenia, yet it happened and I am honestly beginning to fear the same fate for us, we must wake up! Don’t be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! We sat still and let one woman take prayer out of our schools, let us not ever sit that still again! My heart is full of love for those who came before me and plowed out a wonderful life for me, I don’t want to be slack and let it be taken away, they are in the cloud of witnesses (Hebrews 12:1) that are urging us forward, telling us to do our best to GO for it!
Thank you to anyone reading this who has ever served in any branch of the military, putting your life on the line to protect our country, thank you to all the policeman who guard us daily, and our firemen, also, thank you to all the postal workers who deliver our mail through all kinds of adversity. Thank you God that we live in the United States of America! My country is of Thee, sweet land of liberty, let freedom ring!Let us keep that in mind as we pray!
